Dr. Smith graduated Dental School from the University of Connecticut in 1993, where he was chosen for the Fox Award, given by the Faculty to the person voted to be the best all around student in the class. Other honors received were the American Academy of Periodontology and American Academy of Prosthodontics Student Awards, as well as the Law and Ethics Student Award. He then completed the Harvard Wide General Practice Residency in 1994. Since that time, he has owned a private general dental practice in Boston, Massachusetts.
Dr. Smith was recently appointed to a faculty position at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, where he is serving as a member of the Institutional Review Board. The Board is in charge of approving and monitoring all human subject research at both Harvard Medical School and Harvard Dental School. Dr. Smith is currently serving as a dental expert on the Medical Malpractice Tribunal for the Massachusetts Superior Court. He is also a member of the Academy of General Dentistry and the Massachusetts Dental Society. Dr. Smith has worked extensively with Dr. Fugazzotto on the restoration of complex conventional and immediate implant therapies for over 25 years.
